Zoology - Fish & Wildlife


The primary topic of the course is vertebrate animal biology and conservation in Idaho and the United States. The curriculum is geared toward students pursuing a career in wildlife, forestry, and wildland management. Current issues concerning salmon, wolves, grizzly bears, and forest roadless areas will be examined. The focus of this class is to increase student appreciation and awareness of fish and wildlife resources. This is an active class with numerous “hands-on” experiments, and projects. Field trips with active student participation are common in this class.

Prerequisite: Zoology - Fish & Wildlife Science and Application

The focus of this class is to increase student awareness and appreciation of natural resource conservation. This is an active class with approximately 70% of class hours spent at various training sites around the community. Students will be exposed to numerous career opportunities in the field of natural resources. Knowledge of ecology careers and skills needed will be fostered. Topics of this course includes: ecology, natural resource conservation, and employment opportunities associated with natural resources in the United States. Current issues concerning conservation biology and multiple use of natural resources will be examined. Students provide their own transportation.
