Students will explore skills and attitudes associated with a broad range of health careers. The program introduces the students to medical terminology, communication skills, anatomy and physiology, medical ethics, emergency/CPR, and employability skills. This course will assist students in making informed decisions concerning their academic and occupational goals. Offered on-site at each high school and can substitute for Health requirement necessary for graduation.

This course will be taught daily at area health care facilities and will include actual time in a variety of clinical areas throughout the year. Classroom time is spent focusing on advanced topics of health occupations. Students may also choose to become a nursing assistant through one component of the course. Required immunizations must be obtained prior to entering the program. Students must provide his/her own transportation.

Community-based instruction is organized and planned to provide specialized skills unique to health care occupations. Students are placed in businesses that provide paid on-the-job experience, which is related to the student’s primary area of study. The student must provide his/her own transportation.
