Timberline Career Center SAT/ACT/Compass

The SAT and ACT are college entrance tests for students planning to enter 4-year colleges and universities. These tests should be taken spring of the junior year or fall of the senior year. Registration materials, test dates, locations, test strategies and practice tests are available in the Career Center and online.

NOTE: A free SAT, ACT, PSAT and PLAN test prep class is available to all Timberline High School students. (See information below.)

The PSAT (Preliminary Scholastic Aptitude Test) is offered once a year in October. Sophomores should take it for practice for the SAT. Juniors should take it for possible scholarships in the National Merit Scholarship Program.

The PLAN is a practice test for the ACT. It is administered in the fall of the sophomore year. Timberline High School Code: 130-054 (Necessary for ACT, SAT, & AP test registration)

The Compass Test is a placement test used by the 2-year colleges. Much more than a series of tests, COMPASS/ESL is a comprehensive, computer-adaptive testing system that helps place students into appropriate courses and maximizes the information postsecondary schools need to ensure student success. Preparing for the SAT & ACT

Timberline HS Language Arts Department offers a free workshop for test prep of the SAT, ACT, PSAT and PLAN tests. Please see Mr. Archibald-Seiffer in Room 225 or Mrs. Lodge in the Career Center for registration information on either the College Application Essay Workshop or the test prep workshops.

Micron engineers teach free ACT/SAT test prep classes (session schedule) at Timberline High School on Saturdays at Timberline High School in Room 302. All students interested in improving their math skills for the ACT/SAT tests are welcome to attend. For more information, please see Lori Lodge in the Career Center.
