Students choosing to participate in
a Tech Prep agreement may receive college credit for their high
school education coursework. Tech Prep is a process designed to
allow students to receive college credit for specific programs
of study at the high school level. Approved high school Tech
Prep course work will allow students to graduate early from an
approved college program. The Boise School District has Tech
Prep agreements in many program areas. Additional information
can be obtained from your counselor or your
Professional-Technical Education instructor.
Benefits:
College credits available
Early completion of technology program
Savings on cost of college technology program
Early entry into the skilled workforce
No duplication of high school coursework
Students may sign up for a Tech Prep
program and take a suggested sequence of academic and
professional-technical courses in high school. Students have the
option of concurrent enrollment or having their course work
approved and transferred when they graduate from high school.
The result is a seamless system in which Tech Prep students can
move from high school to college without having to repeat
courses. Students may enter or leave the program at any time
during high school. Participation is based solely upon interest.
Students are expected to maintain a minimum 2.0 overall high
school G.P.A. and receive a “B” or better in the specific course
in order to receive college credit.
