PHILOSOPHY OF SCHOOL NURSING
Understanding that health is the state of physical, mental, and social well-being, optimum health of a child is prerequisite of modern education.  A strong school health program has numerous opportunities to promote the health of pupils and other members of the community.  The school environment, the help children receive in solving their health problems, the ideas about individual and community health which they form, and the information and understanding they acquire about themselves as human beings influence the development of attitudes and behavior conducive to happy, healthy, and usefully productive living.

We further believe that the school nurse, as an integral member of the school health team acts:

  • as an advocate for the health rights of children
  • as a counselor for health concerns of children, families and staff
  • as an educator for school/community health concerns.
