Mrs. Sly
I am not a teacher, but an awakener.
                                                  Robert Frost

A teacher influences the lives of children daily. We are the sculptors of young minds. We must be examples in character, action, and appearance. We not only have a responsibility to our students but to society.

I want to influence my students by awakening an excitement for knowledge and a life long desire to learn. To successfully accomplish this, it is important for parents to be a partner in the education of their child. Together, we can prepare our children for their future.

Each child is unique and has individual needs. These needs are recognized and respected by both the educator and the classroom community. Identifying and tailoring the curriculum to meet the needs and interests of each child allows the student to reach their full potential. This can be accomplished using a carefully orchestrated blend of direct instruction, hands on learning, scaffolding, critical thinking, drill and practice, and inquiry learning. By tailoring instruction to meet individual needs, children are able to reach their full potential.

In order for the student to become a participating member of society, they must first experience success, feel connected, and be a contributing member of their school community.

School is a building that has four walls –
             With tomorrow inside.
