WHAT IS ACCELERATED READER?

Accelerated Reader is a reading enhancement program.  

HOW THE PROGRAM WORKS

At least twice a year the children are given a Star Reading Test, which is a diagnostic reading assessment tool.
The Star Reading Test gives students a reading range that best fits their reading ability.
Books that have an AR  test available is coded with a color dot to help students find books in their reading range.
Below are the reading levels and the colors their AR stickers will be.

   1.0-----1.9  LIGHT BLUE
   2.0-----2.9   ORANGE
   3.0-----3.9   DARK GREEN
   4.0-----4.9    GOLD
   5.0-----5.9    YELLOW
   6.0-----6.9     RED
   7.0------         LIME GREEN

All books on AR have colored dots / and reading level on the spine of the books.
