Project D.E.A.R. (Drop Everything And Read) is a reading program that has been a successful component of our school-wide goal to develop an interest and positive attitude toward reading. The purpose of this program is to encourage students to read at home and for parents to share books with children who are not yet reading on their own.

At the beginning of each month, starting in October and ending in March, students are given a calendar to record the amount of time spent reading at home. Students fill in the hours or minutes read each day. Completed calendars are due at the end of each month.

Students who complete the 6 reading calendars and who read the required 5 hours per month minimum will receive a coupon that is good toward the purchase of one book at our annual book fair in May.
