When I left special education to come to Boise, I worked with children who were experiencing behavioral challenges. I set up and ran the Alternative Learning Center at Whittier for three years. In this program I helped children with anger management, behavioral self-control, pro-social skills, and problem solving techniques.
This is my eleventh year teaching third grade. I love the children, the curriculum, and the Whittier staff. I can not imagine doing anything else. Every year gets better. This year is going to be awesome!!!
For the past 7 years I have been closely involved with BSU in training the pre-service teachers. We have had wonderful experiences with these bright, young, teachers in training. This year, our BSU Intern will be Amanda Sinclair. She will be working with the students in my class during the 1st Semester.
Family: I had been married for 13 years when my fist husband died
of cancer seven years ago. We had adopted 2 wonderful children, Tyler
(now 12) and Parker (now 10). In January, 2001, I married a terrific man who
has been my best friend for the past 29 years. Michael, my new husband,
has a beautiful, 18-year-old daughter. Amy lives with us in Meridian.
Six years ago, Michael and I adopted another girl. Rachel is an adorable
first grader now and she is the light of our lives. All the children are
involved in church and school activities. Parker, and Rachel attend school at Whittier.
Tyler is attends Lewis and Clark Middle School. Amy is an Ameri-Corps
Tutor at Whittier.
During family time, we enjoy camping and fishing in the summer and snowmobiling
in the winter.
