Mrs. Stands

I am born into a family of educators.  My great grandma, grandparents, great uncles, great aunts, uncles, aunts, cousins and parents are educators.  Very few family members have ventured into other areas.

I earned my BA in Elementary Education at the University of Idaho in 1990 and my Masters in Education through Lesley College in 1994 with an emphasis in curriculum and instruction.  I have been teaching for 12 years.  I have taught first grade for 6 years, second grade for 3 years and primary multi-age (1st, 2nd, and 3rd) for 3 years.  I have taught in the Seattle, WA area for 7 years, Twin Falls, ID for 2 years and currently Boise, ID for 3 years.

I am passionate about my life.  I love my family, family of friends, and I love my students!  My family, friends, co-workers, and students help to make me a more evolved person.  I thank them all and am blessed to have them in my life.

My personal interests are teaching, teaching, teaching some more and becoming a better teacher.  I spend a lot of time gathering more information that keeps me current as an educator, helps me meet the needs of my individual students and contributing to my society as an educator.  I am currently very passionate and pretty much obsessed with reading achievement for my first graders.

I also dream school, but I do have some outside interests.  I enjoy spending time with my wonderful, charming, and endearing husband and playful chocolate lab.  River rafting, yoga, mountain biking, gardening, snow and water skiing, and travel are my recess activities.

Mrs. Stands' First Grade Classroom Vision

·        I, Stacey Stands, will teach my first grade students to read and my class will be readers!

·        Students will gain and maintain math skills that will serve as building blocks to further math understanding.

·        My passion for learning will dramatically influence my students' attitude towards learning, being challenged, success and their future as a learner.

·        I will integrate Health, Science, and Social Studies Curriculum so my first graders continue to build literacy and math skills.
