Transition Programs
Transition
planning is a formal process to assist students with
disabilities and their families in preparing for the
movement from school programs and services to their futures
as active, adult members of the community and society.
An integral part of the individualized education plan
(IEP), transition planning results in the student receiving
appropriate services and experiences that will provide
him or her with the self confidence needed for post-school
success.
- Aspire - provides
junior high students opportunities for career exploration,
functional academics and life skills development.
- The Work Opportunity
Resource Center program focuses on career
exploration, pre-occupational and vocational skills,
daily living skills and service projects for 10th & 11th
graders. Juniors work in teams at various sites
in the community four days per week.
- Better Employment Skills Training
- Capital Access Program
- Community Based Employment
Training is a school to work program offering
hands-on experience in a community job setting
for 12th graders.
- The Community Based
Transition programs are programs for students
ages 18 through 21. They promote independent living
skills as a continuing education opportunity in
an age appropriate community setting.
