CBET Program
Community Based Employment Training
"The
ultimate transition from school to the world of
work"
The Community Based Employment Training Program
is an innovative approach that provides realistic transition
opportunities from the classroom to the world of work.
CBET
students participate in hands-on work experience in a
job setting within the community. The job site is the "classroom" where
vocational training is provided to help students develop
job skills and work behaviors. Vocational needs along
with specific vocational goals and objectives are identified
through the Individual Education Plan (IEP) process in
conjunction with the home school.
CBET is a 2 period, off campus class. Although it is
generally a non-paid program, students do earn vocational
credit towards graduation. Worker's Compensation is covered
through the Boise School District.
Even though paid employment is not a goal of the CBET
Program, employers may choose to hire a student for pay
and continue participation in the program.
Results..."a
win-win situation"

- CBET creates a positive transition from school to
the world of work.
- CBET helps students achieve their ultimate goal,
