The Boise School District started its
Technology initiative in 1995. The School Board recognized
the emphasis the community placed on technology in
the classroom and passed a tax levy specifically to
support educational technology. An excerpt from the
original technology plan adopted in 1995 states:
The Boise School District's vision for technology
is that students will learn to use technology to
gather, analyze and communicate their findings
on topics relevant to their studies and interests.
This tool will provide an opportunity for teachers
to use a wider variety of instructional methods
to facilitate learning.
In 2000 the Board adopted its "Plan 2005".
In it was a goal that reinforced the importance of
technology:
Boise School District acquires and maintains
appropriate technological facilities, equipment
and materials, support, instructional strategies
and staff training.
