2021-22 Vector (SafeSchools) Training

The Boise School District is responsible for ensuring that all employees participate in new hire and annual compliance training as required by the Board of Trustees and the State and Federal Government. For all information regarding the mandatory Vector (formerly known as SafeSchools) training, please refer to the contents below.

Access the Vector Training Website

  1. Go to the Vector training website.
  2. Enter your 6-digit employee id number as your username.
  3. Enter the last four digits of your Social Security Number as your password.

Who is responsible for completing the Vector training?

All employees of the District, per Board Policy #5530, are required to complete the mandatory Vector training courses. These courses are automatically assigned to you in your Vector account. To see what courses you are responsible to complete, please log in to the Vector training website or refer to the courses outlined below.


Mandatory Vector Training Courses

Substitutes

District substitutes will be required to take the following courses:

  1. Absence Management Training for Substitutes - 13 minutes
  2. Bloodborne Pathogen Exposure Prevention (Refresher) - 15 minutes
  3. Sexual Harassment: Staff-to-Staff (Refresher) - 13 minutes
  4. Sexual Misconduct: Staff-to-Student (Full Course) - 37 minutes
  5. Boise School District | Evacuation Procedures - 3 minutes
  6. Boise School District | Hall Check Procedures - 3 minutes
  7. Boise School District | Lockdown Procedures - 4 minutes
  8. Boise School District | Reverse Evacuation Procedures - 3 minutes
  9. Safety is Everyone's Responsibility - 7 minutes
  10. Civil Rights in Food Service - 16 Minutes (Food Service Substitutes Only)
Certified substitutes will be required to complete the following Vector courses in order to be eligible to accept certified jobs (not required if you previously completed Certified substitute training through the Boise School District):

  3. Certified Substitute Training 3: Classroom Management - 15 minutes

Employees new to the District

Employees new to the District will be required to take the following courses:

  1. Bloodborne Pathogen Exposure Prevention (Full Course) - 23 minutes
  2. Bullying: Recognition & Response (Full Course) - 52 minutes
  3. Sexual Harassment: Staff-to-Staff (Full Course) - 35 minutes
  4. Sexual Misconduct: Staff-to-Student (Full Course) - 37 minutes
  5. Student Mental Health - 20 minutes (Not required for Facilities & Food Service)
  6. Students Experiencing Homelessness: Awareness & Understanding - 28 minutes
  7. Youth Suicide: Awareness, Prevention, and Postvention - 39 minutes (Not required for Facilities & Food Service)
  8. Title IX and Sexual Misconduct - 25 minutes

  14. Civil Rights in Food Service - 16 minutes (Select schools only)
    1. The Boise School District is a participant in the National School Breakfast & Lunch Program. As a participant, employees working in an elementary school that serves breakfast in the classroom must complete an annual Civil Rights in Food Service Training course in accordance with Federal statute. This course will automatically be assigned to employees who work at the following elementary schools: Garfield, Grace Jordan, Hawthorne, Hillcrest, Horizon, Jefferson, Koelsh, Morley Nelson, Whitney, Whittier, and Wm. Howard Taft.
  15. Fresh Fruit and Vegetable Program - 7 minutes (Select schools only)
    1. The District was awarded to participate in the Fresh Fruit and Vegetable Program (FFVP). FFVP is a USDA Federal Program that provides a variety of fresh fruits and vegetables to students during the school day. As a participant in this program, all non-food and nutrition services employees working at the following sites will be required to complete this course: Garfield, Grace Jordan, Hawthorne, Hillcrest, Horizon, Jefferson, Koelsh, Morley Nelson, Whitney, Whittier, and Wm. Howard Taft.

Current/Returning employees of the District

Current/returning employees of the District will be required to take the following courses:

  1. Bloodborne Pathogen Exposure Prevention (Refresher) - 15 minutes
  2. Bullying: Recognition & Response (Refresher) - 23 minutes
  3. Students Experiencing Homelessness: Awareness & Understanding - 28 minutes

Mandatory Vector Training Courses Deadlines

Board Policy #5530 states that it is the responsibility of employees to complete all required training. Failure to complete the mandatory Vector training courses by the deadline may result in disciplinary action.

Substitutes

Substitutes new to the District

Substitute employees new to the District must complete the mandatory Vector courses within 90-days of being hired.

Current/Returning Substitutes

The deadline for current/returning substitute employees to complete the mandatory Vector courses is December 22, 2021. Per Board Policy, it is the substitute employee’s responsibility to complete the mandatory Vector courses by the deadline.

Classified & Food Service Substitutes

Classified & Food Service substitutes will be paid for completing the mandatory Vector courses. Payment will be paid at $10/hour which equates to $20 total for completing the required courses. A one-time payment will be made in January to those who have completed the required courses by the December 22, 2021 deadline. For those who have not completed the required courses by the deadline, a one-time payment will be paid in June to those who completed the courses.

Certified Substitutes

As a certified substitute, you will have the option during certified substitute jobs to use the teacher’s prep-period to complete the Vector courses, except for the five certified substitute training courses, which must be completed prior to accepting certified jobs.

Classified Employees

Classified Employees New to the District

Classified employees new to the District must complete the mandatory Vector courses within 90-days of being hired.

Current/Returning Classified Employees

The deadline to complete the mandatory Vector courses for current/returning classified employees, including Food & Nutrition Services, is December 22, 2021. It is the classified employee’s responsibility to complete the mandatory Vector courses by the deadline.

Certified Employees

Certified Employees New to the District

Certified employees new to the District must complete the mandatory Vector courses within 90-days of being hired.

Current/Returning Certified Employees

The deadline for current/returning certified employees to complete the mandatory Vector courses is December 22, 2021. Due to a busy training schedule prior to the beginning of the school year, certified employees may choose to complete the courses during any of their workdays prior to the beginning of the school year, after the early release, or during other available time prior to the due date. Certified employees may choose not to use this time as allotted; nonetheless, per Board Policy, is the certified employee’s responsibility to complete the mandatory Vector courses by the deadline.
