Boise School Board To Consider
In-Person Versus Virtual Start to School Year
Details Released Regarding Monday’s School Board Meeting

Boise, ID -- 07/30/2020 -- In anticipation of receiving significant public testimony, the Boise School District today released details about how the general public will be provided an opportunity to sign-up to testify remotely, or submit written comments, to the Boise School Board as the Board considers whether to start the school year in-person or virtually.
On Monday, August 3, 2020 at 5:30 p.m., the Boise School Board will meet to consider whether in-person learning will take place for the start of the school year that begins on August 17, 2020. In reaching a decision, the Board will take into consideration guidance from medical professionals, a recommendation from Central District Health, a recommendation from the Boise School District administration, as well as oral and written public comments received.
Members of the general public who are interested in providing written testimony to the Board for consideration should submit such testimony to Clerk of the Board Sharon Mast by 12 p.m. on Monday, August 3, 2020 either via email to

Members of the general public who are interested in signing-up to testify during the August 3rd Board meeting should contact Clerk of the Board Sharon Mast by 12 p.m. on Monday, August 3, 2020 via email to

Although Board members and administrators will convene at the District Service Center for the meeting, patrons who wish to observe the meeting or testify will do so virtually, as the District Service Center does not have capacity to safely accommodate all those who have indicated they intend to testify.
Testimony received during the virtual Board meeting must comply with
Board Policy #1441 - Audience Participation at Regular Board Meetings
, and will be limited to three minutes. Public testimony will be presented during the virtual Board meeting in order of when the request to testify was received by the District. The public testimony portion of the Board meeting will be limited to 90 minutes in length under
Board Policy 1460 - Special Hearings on Controversial Issues
. Because we anticipate a significant number of individuals will register to testify, and we could quickly exceed capacity, patrons are encouraged to submit written comments.
