Dear Boise School District Staff, Students and Families,
In an effort to be good stewards of our energy resources, we invite you to help your school participate in the Spring 2023 Powerdown Challenge.
The Spring 2023 Powerdown Challenge comes on the heels of our Winter Powerdown Challenge that resulted in the Boise School District saving 471,000 kWh of energy over ten days, which is approximately a 30% reduction from our normal energy use. The energy savings was due to the efforts of our District's Facilities & Operations Department and the HVAC settings adjusted for Winter break, as well as the individual efforts of students and staff members who participated in the Winter Powerdown Challenge by unplugging and powering down energy usage in classrooms and offices. The total savings during the Winter Powerdown Challenge was equivalent to the annual average electricity use of 44 U.S. homes.
Student clubs and leadership teams, please help power down with your teachers by following our Spring Powerdown Checklist on/or before school dismissal on Friday, March 17, 2023, and enter the data online, or by scanning the QR code on the following flyer, as you go from room to room.
