At Boise Schools, we believe that clear and consistent communication is vital to the success of our students and the satisfaction of our community. We use a variety of communication tools to ensure that parents, guardians, and patrons stay informed and engaged with what's happening in our schools. Here's a comprehensive overview of the tools we use at the district level.
*Note: your schools may use some of these tools as well and will send out separate communication about the communication tools they use.
ParentSquare
With ParentSquare, you’ll receive important district, school, and classroom updates all in one place accessible from your phone or computer. Whether it’s event reminders, forms, schedule changes, or classroom news, ParentSquare makes it easy to stay connected. With ParentSquare, you can:
- Choose how and when you receive messages
- Reply to messages from staff
- View calendars and sign-ups
- Fill out permission slips and forms
- Access everything in your preferred language

Text Messaging
Stay informed about urgent and important information through our text messaging alert systems. We send out alerts for:
District Parents/Guardians: Stay Informed with Emergency Text Messages
Boise School District uses ParentSquare to deliver emergency text messages directly to parents/guardians and staff. This includes important notifications such as school closures, safety alerts, and other urgent updates.
To ensure you receive these alerts, please make sure your school has your current mobile phone number in our student information system. If your number is up to date, you will automatically receive emergency text messages through ParentSquare. If you do have a mobile phone number in ParentSquare, you will receive an email or App/Push notification depending on whether you’ve downloaded the ParentSquare App or not. Community Members: Sign-Up for Guest Emergency Text Messages
Non-parents/guardians (for example, extended family, community partners, or interested residents) can also receive emergency text alerts by joining the District’s Guest Emergency Text Alert Group.

District Newsletters
Approximately every two weeks during the school year, Boise Schools offers “Boise School District News,” an e-newsletter filled with stories of student and teacher success, timely district-wide news and announcements, and parent engagement opportunities. Parent email addresses are updated regularly from our parent portal system, Infinite Campus, however anyone (grandparents, media, patrons, etc.) interested in keeping up with your Boise School District, may sign-up online to receive our District newsletter.
Beyond the Bell
Beyond the Bell offers a behind-the-scenes look at the Boise School District —covering the financial, operational, and policy decisions that shape our schools. Each edition provides insights on areas such as budgeting and strategic planning, student safety, and our district’s approach to teaching and learning. Boise School District's Community Education program offers a variety of classes each season, including Fall, Winter, and Spring sessions.
