Update 10/01/2020

Phase Two of Return to In-Person Learning Begins Monday: Following the successful completion of Phase 1, on Monday, October 5, 2020, Boise School District will begin phase 2 of our four-phase plan to gradually and safely return students to in-person learning. On that day, students in grades 3-6 will join students in PreK-2 and SC/SLC Special Education in participating in the following alternating daily learning schedule (3 days virtual learning, 2 days in-person learning):

  • Mondays: All Students Virtual
  • Tuesdays/Thursdays: Students will be divided in half alphabetically as close to 50% as possible per school while working to keep families together (Ex. Last Names A-L to attend in-person)
  • Wednesdays/Fridays: Students will be divided in half alphabetically as close to 50% as possible per school while working to keep families together (Ex. Last Names M-Z to attend in-person)

Thank you to all students, staff and community members who helped the District meet the following criteria to move to Phase 2:
  • Are safety protocols able to be maintained?
  • Number of positive Covid-19 cases and students/ teachers being quarantined has not hindered school operations
  • Central District Health and medical professionals’ input

During Phase 1, the District has recorded six positive cases throughout the District. Since school started on August 17th, only one of the District’s positive cases was the result of an exposure that happened during a school-based activity. While the small number of positive cases has required a larger number of students and staff to be quarantined, it is important to remember that quarantining is a safeguard against transmission and is not reflective of either probable or confirmed cases. A 14-day quarantine may be required when someone is within six feet of a positive COVID-19 individual for 15+ minutes.

The Boise School District announced its phased return to in-person learning in early September.

End of First Quarter Calendar Change: Friday, October 16th, was originally scheduled to be a non-school day for elementary school students (grades PreK-6) to allow time for teachers to work on report cards. However, because of the current alternating daily learning schedule, the District has decided to make Friday, October 16th an in-person learning day for those students who currently attend in-person learning on Fridays. Therefore, Monday, October 19th will be a non-school day for elementary school students (grades PreK-6) in order to provide teachers time to work on report cards and prepare for parent-teacher conferences.

Bringing Free Flu Shots to School: St. Luke’s Children’s Hospital is offering flu vaccinations at no cost to students in the Boise School District. Review Boise Schools Flu Shot Schedule. For more information, contact your school nurse.

Questions/Concerns: Pandemic Operation procedures and practices may vary by school and we encourage you to reach out first to your child’s school
