Owyhee Elementary Celebrates Legacy and New Beginnings

Owyhee Elementary School recently held its beloved Legacy Art Celebration, a time-honored tradition led by the sixth-grade class that honors the spirit, creativity, and community that define the school. This year’s celebration held special significance as Owyhee prepares to transition into an Early Learning Center in the 2025-2026 school year.

In a heartfelt ceremony filled with pride and reflection, sixth-grade students shared their favorite memories and presented personal works of art representing their journey at Owyhee. They also introduced a meaningful keepsake that will be gifted to all students — a lasting token of their time together.

Adding to the emotional celebration were messages from Owyhee alumni, many of whom fondly recalled their own time in the halls of the school. The event was a moving tribute to the generations of students, families, and staff who have called Owyhee home.

As the school looks ahead to its exciting new role as an Early Learning Center, the Legacy Art Celebration served as a powerful reminder of Owyhee’s lasting impact — a place where learning, love, and lifelong memories begin. 💙

Boise School District Proactively Tests for Radon to Ensure Safe Learning Environments

As part of Boise School District’s ongoing commitment to the health and safety of our students and staff, our Facilities & Operations Department is currently conducting radon testing at schools across the district.

This district-wide effort was accelerated following concerns identified during testing at North Junior High. While those concerns are being addressed with appropriate mitigation measures, we are expanding testing to all facilities out of an abundance of caution and to ensure every building meets health and safety standards.

Radon is a naturally occurring gas that can accumulate indoors and, at elevated levels over long periods of time, may pose health risks. The District’s goal is to identify and address any areas where radon levels exceed recommended action thresholds.

For more information about the Boise School District’s radon testing protocols, mitigation strategies, and a list of completed and upcoming testing locations, please visit our Radon Testing & Mitigation webpage:
