Emergency Remote Learning & Support For Essential Services
Monday, March 30, 2020

Dear Boise School District Parents, Guardians & Staff:

During the current COVID-19 school closure, Boise School District is here for our community. Our teachers and staff have created resources to support stay-at-home learning and essential services. While ongoing, remote learning cannot fully replace students' experiences and relationships in schools with their teachers, administrators, and support staff, the following approach will help ensure our students are prepared for the next step in their educational journey.

Teacher Check-Ins with Families
This week, you can expect a phone call from your student’s teacher. Be aware the call may be from a non-District telephone number. Our teachers will call to see how families are doing, as well as ask if you have access to the internet and a computer, or electronic device, other than a smartphone. The information our staff gathers will be critical in our efforts to launch course-based and grade-level online curriculum in mid-April. Thank you for taking the time to respond to this important call from your teacher.

Phase I
Beginning Monday, March 30th, and continuing for ten school days, we will provide online learning resources and activities through our new Learning & Essential Services website. The website includes grade-level materials designed to help students maintain and develop their skills in core subjects. The goal during phase I is to assist students/families as they develop a structure and routine to begin learning from home. Alternative printed learning packets will also be available for pick-up at our Grab-And-Go Meal Sites.

Phase II
In mid-April, we will expand our Learning & Essential Services website by offering specific content-based and grade-level online curriculum for each student, with alternatives for printed materials for those who don’t have online access. Again, we will be connecting with families who need internet access and technology devices. Our classroom teachers will be engaged in the learning process during phase II by providing assistance/feedback through a variety of online tools.

Like you, we are doing our very best to navigate an unprecedented situation. We are grateful for the community-minded parents, colleagues, partners, and many others who are helping to support our children. We know many of you are feeling anxious and uncertain about the future. We are here for you, whether it’s our stay-at-home learning plan, our Grab-And-Go Meal Services For Children, or connecting you with community resources and student support services
