🧠➕ Boise Students Shine at Annual Math Meet!

Fifth and sixth grade students from 14 Boise School District elementary schools recently gathered to put their math skills, creativity, and teamwork to the test during this year’s Math Meet. Fifth grade teams competed on February 18, followed by sixth grade teams on March 5.

Throughout the event, students worked together to tackle a variety of engaging challenges designed to highlight different areas of mathematical thinking. Teams collaborated on problem-solving tasks, explored spatial reasoning challenges, and responded to fast-paced quick-response questions. Students also had the opportunity to showcase their individual math skills during a separate individual challenge.

This year’s team problem-solving task focused on real-world data about wildland fires. Using the information provided, teams developed recommendations for how wildland firefighters could be stationed across the United States to respond most effectively. Students demonstrated impressive teamwork, critical thinking, and enthusiasm while tackling this complex challenge.
