
Boise School District Superintendent Lisa Roberts to Retire
Boise, ID – 01/12/2025 – At tonight’s Board of Trustees meeting, Boise School District Superintendent Lisa Roberts announced that she will retire on June 30th, 2026.
“It has been an honor to serve the students and families of our district,” said Superintendent Roberts. “And, I have been fortunate to work with some of the most kind, intelligent, brave and passionate individuals for more than 30 years. For that, I will be eternally grateful. But I am excited to retire alongside my husband and discover new adventures.”
The Board announced that they will hold a special Board meeting at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday, January 21st, 2026 to determine the process for hiring a new superintendent.The meeting will be open to the public and available online.
“There’s no question that our district has become more transparent, open and accountable thanks to Lisa’s leadership,” said Board of Trustees President, Dave Wagers. “She has built a great team that centers every conversation around how we can best serve our students, fully support our employees and strengthen our ties to our community. We’ve been lucky to have her and wish her the very best in retirement.”
Lisa Roberts has served the students and families of the Boise School District for 33 years as a classroom teacher, elementary school principal, Administrator of Student Programs, Borah Area Director and Deputy Superintendent, and Superintendent. She also served on the District’s negotiations team for 18 years. In addition to her role as Superintendent, Mrs. Roberts serves on the St. Luke’s Community Health Board and the University of Idaho’s Education and Health and Human Services Advocacy Board. She has a proven track record of unwavering support and commitment to student and staff well being, mental health, enhancing student outcomes, implementing innovative programs, fostering a positive and inclusive student-centered learning environment, building strong relationships based on trust, transparency and accountability.
