Trustee Appointment Process 2021

 The Board of Trustees of the Boise School District is currently in the public process of appointing a new trustee to fill a vacancy on the Board. Beginning Friday, October 29, 2021, candidate nominations will be accepted until 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday, November 10, 2021.

Trustee Selection Process
  • October 29, 2021 - November 10, 2021: Candidate nomination application process is open and applications are available on this website or in the Clerk of the Board's Office at 8169 W. Victory Road, Boise, ID.
  • November 10, 2021: Candidate nomination applications due. Candidate applications must be returned and signed by the applicant in person to the Clerk of the Board no later than 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday November 10, 2021. The form must be complete.  Candidate Applications received:

  • November 16, 2021: Special Board Meeting at 5:30 p.m. in the Board Room at the District Services Center, 8169 W. Victory Road for consideration and voting of applicants to interview. During this Special Board Meeting, the Board identified the following trustee candidate finalists to interview:
    • Caitlin Copple Masingill
    • Steve Schmidt
    • Dana Zuckerman
  • November 19, 2021: Special Board Meeting at 2:30 p.m. in the Board Room at the District Services Center, 8169 W. Victory Rd. to interview trustee candidate finalists and select a new Trustee. The Board selected Steve Schmidt to serve as the new Trustee.
  • December 13, 2021: Mr. Steve Schmidt will be officially sworn in at the Regular Board Meeting held at 6:00 p.m. in the Board Room at the District Services Center, 8169 W. Victory Rd. 
The Boise School Board will follow Regulation 1131(R) - Filling Vacancies on the Board of Trustees.

Qualifications of Trustees
To be eligible to serve as a Trustee an individual must be at least 18 years of age, an elector and resident of the Boise School District, and have no direct or indirect interest in District contracts. Before entering upon his/her duties, he/she shall take and subscribe an oath faithfully to perform the duties of his/her trust according to law; and no Trustee shall have any pecuniary interest, either directly or indirectly, in any contract with said District, or in any supplies furnished to or for said District, nor shall any Trustee be surety for the performance of any contract with the said Board or District, or the agent or partner of any contractor with said Board or District, and no action shall be maintained or recovery had against said Board or District upon any contract or obligation in which any Trustee is so interested, but the same shall be void.
