The Boise School District Board of Trustees is currently in the public process of appointing a new trustee to fill a vacancy on the Board. Beginning Tuesday, March 12, 2024, candidate nominations will be accepted until noon on Monday, March 25, 2024.

Trustee Appointment Declaration of Candidacy Application (The candidate application period has ended)

A candidate must:
1. File a Declaration of Candidacy; 
2. File a Petition of Candidacy containing the required five (5) signatures of qualified electors verified with the Boise School District Board Clerk; 
3. Provide a current resume, Curriculum Vitae, or personal statement, including relevant experiences.
4. Answer questions from the Board in writing and/or by personal interview.

• March 12, 2024 - March 25, 2024 (until noon): The candidate application process is open, and applications are available on this website or in the Clerk of the Board's office at 8169 W. Victory Rd., Boise, ID. Applications may be emailed to [email protected] or delivered in person to the Boise School District Service Center, 8169 W. Victory Road, Boise, Idaho, Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. The application form must be complete. As a reminder, all school district offices will be closed Monday, March 18 - Friday, March 22, 2024, in observance of Spring Break. 

• March 25, 2024: Candidate applications are due by noon. They must be returned and signed by the applicant no later than noon on Monday, March 25, 2024. The form must be complete. All Candidate Applications received will be posted on this website.

• March 26, 2024: Special Board meeting at 5:00 PM in the Board Room of the District Services Center, 8169 W. Victory Road, Boise, Idaho, to consider applicants and consider an immediate appointment. 

• April 1, 2024: Special Board Meeting at 5:00 PM in the Board Room of the District Services Center, 8169 W. Victory Road, Boise, Idaho, to interview trustee candidate finalists and select a new Trustee.

• April 8, 2024: The new Trustee will be officially sworn in at the Regular Board Meeting, which will be held at 6:00 p.m. in the Board Room at the District Services Center, 8169 W. Victory Rd.

TIME COMMITMENT:
The Board of Trustees meets monthly on the second Monday of each month (4-5 hours, including preparation).  The Board also meets most months for a Board/Cabinet workshop and/or training (4-5 hours). Trustees also serve on at least two committees that meet once a month (these require a total of 6-10 hours including preparation).  Additional time will be spent on ceremonial invitations, graduations, and school visitations.  Other meetings may be called when necessary for single topics.
