2025 SUMMER DRIVER'S ED DATES:
DATES:
FIRST SESSION – May 30 - June 27, 2025
- Friday, May 30 is CLASSROOM only. Classroom AND driving continues on Monday, June 2nd. Classes will then be Monday through Friday thereafter and driving three days per week (driving days will be the same the entire session and will be assigned the first day of class).
- Last Day is Friday, June 27th, which is a DRIVING day only.
SECOND SESSION – June 30, July 7 - August 1, 2025
- Monday, June 30 is CLASSROOM only. NO CLASS July 1 - 4. Classroom AND driving continues on Monday, July 7th. Classes will be Monday through Friday and driving three days per week (driving days will be the same the entire session and will be assigned the first day of class).
- Last Day is Friday, August 1st, which is a DRIVING day only.
It is extremely difficult to make up missed classes and drives. If you know you will miss, please sign up for a session of which you can attend every class.
LOCATION:
All classes will be held at Fairmont Junior High School, 2121 N Cole Rd, Boise, ID 83704 (Between Fairview and Northview)
SCHEDULE:
Classroom and Driving Instruction are in 3 hour blocks:
- 7:00 am - 10:00 am (Class @ 7:00 am, Drive @ 8:30 am OR Drive @ 7:00 am , Class @ 8:30 am)
- 10:00 am - 1:00 pm (Class @ 10:00 am, Drive @ 11:30 am OR Drive @ 10:00 am , Class @ 11:30 am)
- 1:00 pm - 4:00 pm. (Class @ 1:00 pm, Drive @ 2:30 pm OR Drive @ 1:00 pm , Class @ 2:30 am)
There will be no class from 1:00 - 4:00 during the second session.
Classroom instruction is held 1½ hours daily Monday through Friday. Driving time is scheduled for 1½ hours three days per week. Driving days will be determined on the first day of class.
COSTS:
- $300.00 Payment must be made at time of registration online.
- A $35.00 per hour make up fee will be charged for any missed classroom or driving time.
ADVANCED OPPORTUNITIES:
Students currently attending a Boise School District school may qualify to use Advanced Opportunities for Driver's Ed. Please follow these steps:
1. Click on this link for information about Advanced Opportunities
2. Sign the Advanced Opportunities participation form and turn it into the Counselor at the school your student currently attends (Please do NOT create an Advanced Opportunities account. Your student’s school counselor can help with this if needed)
3. Upon completion of steps 1-2, select the $75 Advanced Opportunities tuition option on the payment screen of the Driver's Ed registration form.

PLEASE READ ALL DETAILS BELOW FOR REQUIREMENTS.
**An IDAHO Driver Permit is required BEFORE registering for a class. Please check the DMV website for most current information.
PERMITS
- First Session students must have permits purchased no later than May 16th.
- Second Session students must have permits purchased no later than June 16th.
Permits may be purchased at Ada County Driver’s License Department at 400 N Benjamin Lane. The cost of the Driver Education Permit is $26.50. This fee will be paid directly to the Ada County Driver’s License Department. This fee is non-refundable. They will give the eye test, collect the fee and issue the receipt for the Driver Education permit. Students should bring the Temporary Permit receipt to the first day of class.
ITEMS REQUIRED TO OBTAIN A PERMIT FROM THE DMV:
- AN ORIGINAL CERTIFIED BIRTH CERTIFICATE AT THE TIME THE PERMIT IS PURCHASED.
- PHOTO IDENTIFICATION (student activity card, military ID, or passport)
- SCHOOL VERIFICATION OF COMPLIANCE (V.O.C) (LINK LOCATED IN THE UPPER LEFT COLUMN OF THIS WEBSITE) Obtained from the office at your child’s school BEFORE SCHOOL IS DISMISSED FOR THE SUMMER … THESE CANNOT BE OBTAINED AFTER SCHOOL IS OUT FOR THE SUMMER.
- Home schooled students will require an affidavit which must be signed by their parents. The DMV will provide the affidavit.
- SOCIAL SECURITY NUMBERS
- The student and a legal parent must both go get the permit because both will have to sign for the permit.
- Students are required to take and pass a vision test to receive a permit.
- Tell the staff at the Ada County License Department to send the permit to Boise School District.
CANCELATION/REFUND POLICY:
If a student needs to cancel their Driver Education registration, the Driver's Ed office must be contacted by calling 208-854-4026 or emailing [email protected].
Refunds will be issued based on the following:
For 1st Session:
- 100% refund if request is prior to 3:00 pm on May 16th
- 50% if request is prior to 3:00 pm on May 23rd
For 2nd Session:
- 100% refund if request is prior to 3:00 pm on June 16th
- 50% if request is prior to 3:00 pm on June 23rd
- No refund after June 23rd
