Wendy Johnson - Boise Quadrant Area Director
Wendy Johnson brings a wealth of experience to the role of Boise Quadrant Area Director, having served Idaho’s public school students in a variety of capacities since 1994. She has a strong track record of success in the education field, having served students as a teacher, administrator and as the current Superintendent of the Kuna School District, Kuna, ID.
Ms. Johnson’s appointment is part of our ongoing commitment to providing a student-focused learning system that ensures the best possible outcomes for all of our Boise School District students.
During her career in education, Ms. Johnson has served students as:

- Curriculum Coordinator & Administrator of Student Services, Kuna School District, Kuna, ID, 2005-2007
- ISIMS State Teacher Coordinator & Teaching with Technology Peer Coach, J.A. & Kathryn Albertson Foundation, Boise, ID, 2001-2005
- Adjunct Professor of English Education, Northwest Nazarene University, Nampa, ID, 2001-2005
- Language Arts/Journalism Instructor, Kuna High School, Kuna, ID, 1994-2001
As an education leader, Ms. Johnson has successfully implemented early childhood education programs, expanded educational opportunities for students, expanded stakeholder partnerships and advocacy, increased accountability and transparency, and strengthened fiscal stewardship. She looks forward to bringing her commitment to student success to her new role as Area Director of the Boise High Quadrant.
“My interest-based approach brings together students, teachers, parents, community members and leaders together to listen and create a plan to do what is right for our students and solve complex problems together,” said Johnson. “I believe in the power of educators to transform the lives of the young people they teach and lead, and believe one of my main responsibilities as an educational leader is to help remove barriers so that teachers can focus on teaching and administrators can focus on supporting their teams.”
Ms. Johnson says she is excited to join the Boise School District, a school district that she has long admired.
“As a brand new teacher searching for my first teaching job after graduating from college, I asked my father, a former Chemistry teacher at Boise High School, for advice,” said Johnson. “His advice to me was simple, ‘apply in the Boise School District and nowhere else. Boise is the best district in the State, and they care about their teachers.’”
“Much to my father’s disappointment, I did not take his advice back in 1994 – instead choosing to take a job in the school where I completed my student teaching,” said Ms. Johnson. “While I believe choosing the Kuna School District for most of my career has helped me to grow as an educator and as a leader, I have felt my father’s words whispering in my ear over the last several years whenever I ponder what my next step in education should be,” added Ms. Johnson. “I'm so excited that my father will get to see me working in the Boise School District that he loved.”
Ms. Johnson earned a bachelor's degree in English from Northwest Nazarene University and a master’s degree in Adult Education and Organizational Learning, and a Educational Specialist Degree in Educational Leadership from the University of Idaho. She holds certificates as principal and superintendent.
