    • August- October: Apply to schools and programs

    • November: Receive acceptance letters, and create student accounts
    • November- March: Review offers
    • March: Housing opens and students start making final decisions

     

    Most schools would like students to make their final decisions by May 1 and do so by starting to pay their deposits, signing up for orientation and meeting with their advisors to register for classes.

  • It is never too early or too late to apply for scholarships, we just want to be smart about our odds. Below is a helpful order to give you better odds to recieve scholarships:

    • Institution Scholarships (offered by the college based on need, merit, talent and by major)
    • Idaho Only Scholarships (Idaho Opportunity Scholorship, Idaho Launch, Governor’s Cup)
    • Local Scholarship (Boise School District, parent’s work, churches, banks)
    • Scholarship Search Engines (list of safe sites)

    Students can apply for scholarships EVERY year they attend a school or program.

  • Apply Idaho is the state’s FREE, common application platform that allows graduating high school seniors to apply to up to 10 in-state colleges and universities at once. This application opens every year on October 1st and we take time as a district to help students submit this application.

    To sign up for any of the above dates, students need to contact the College and Career Counselor at their home High School.

  • The SAT is a college entrance exam run by College Board, and a current Boise School District graduation requirement. Each year the Boise School District offers the SAT Exam FREE for all Juniors during the school day in April. Students do not need to sign up for the School Day SAT and will show up to school as normal to take it. If a student chooses to retake the SAT test, they need to log into their College Board account and following the steps below:

    • Log into College Board
    • Click on SAT
    • Register for a test with a date and location
    • Pay the registration fee

     

    Students can submit their reciept to get reimbersed from their Advanced Opportunity Funds.

  • Students are offered the PSAT, or Preliminary SAT practice tests, several times thoughout their education in Boise School District. The 11th grade year, students will take the final PSAT/NMSQT or National Finalist Qualifying PSAT for a chance to enter the National Merit Scholarship. All students who take the exam are eligible with only the highest scoring students recieving the chance to advance as a National Merit Finalist and notified by College Board if they are selected to advance.

    • Create and account
    • Select a test date
    • Find a test center
    • Pay for the exam

     

    Students can submit their reciept to get reimbersed for the test using Advanced Opportunity Funds.

  • The FAFSA = Free Application for Federal Student Aid

    1. Create your FSA ID
    2. Fill out the FASFA form

    The first time you complete the FAFSA you will create your account called the FSA ID. Then each year that you are attending a college or program, you will need to fill out a new FAFSA application for the upcoming school year. The application opens every year on October 1.
