Open Enrollment
We recognize the desire of some parents/guardians to enroll their children in a school other than their neighborhood school, from either within or outside of the Boise School District. If you are interested in applying for Open Enrollment admission to a school in our District, please review the information on this page.
Application Process
- Read the Board Policy Manual section on Open Enrollment - Board Policy 3113
- According to Idaho State Code, the school district has 60 days upon receiving a complete application to notify parents of approval or denial.

- If you require assistance filling out the Open Enrollment Application and Contract, please visit the school office of the school for which you are requesting open enrollment.
Please note: If the applicant is not currently enrolled in a Boise School District school (has been attending an out of district school, a charter school, private school or homeschool), a behavior/discipline record and an attendance record from the student's current/previous school must be provided with the Open Enrollment Application and Contract when it is submitted. The application will not be complete without these documents and the application will not be processed without the required records. If you are unable to upload these required documents in the online application, please contact the receiving school and let them know that you will deliver them to the school office.

Below is the timeline for when applications may be submitted.
- 2024 2025 School Year: Applications may be submitted from 2/1/24 - 5/22/25
- 2025 2026 School Year: Applications may be submitted from 2/1/25 - Last Day of School, 2026
- 2026 2027 School Year: Applications may be submitted from 2/1/26 - Last Day of School, 2027
