Boise Evening School (BES) located at Frank Church High School, is dedicated to offering students a unique opportunity to complete their high school requirements and receive a high school diploma. Students sixteen or older who have not graduated from high school but have earned a sufficient number of high school credits may attend the BES program. Students currently attending classes offered at their local high schools may also attend BES to graduate early, to make up classes, or to improve grades. Finally, BES offers older students the opportunity to return to the classroom and complete their high school requirements years after leaving school.
BES classes are held two nights a week per subject and are taught on a semester schedule. Students have the opportunity to attend classes on Monday and Wednesday nights and/or on Tuesday and Thursday nights from 5:30 – 9:15 pm.
A Hybrid online/live program is also offered Monday through Thursday from 5:30 - 9:15 pm for students to earn credit in classes not offered through BES. Students are required to physically attend class and consult with the teacher at least four hours weekly.
BES is an optional educational program. Consequently, all students are required to pay $100.00 per semester to attend classes. This cost allows students to earn up to two credits each semester. At least partial payment ($20) is expected at registration and credit for classes will not be granted until tuition is paid in full. Students may talk to their school counselors about the use of Advanced Opportunities/Fast Forward funds for overflow classes.
Because BES offers classes at an accelerated pace and students must fulfill 60 hours of instruction to earn a credit, attendance is extremely important. Students may not miss more than two classes for each subject or they may be dropped from the class.
