How do I register?
REGISTER ONLINE: Online registration is recommended as classes fill quickly. Each person registering for a class must have their own individual account. To create an account for a child, please use the child's name, not your name.
How much does it cost to register for a class?
Tuition is $10.50 per instructional hour and pro-rated per the number of class sessions.
- See individual class descriptions for class fees.
- Material fees are non-refundable if a student drops a class.
When is payment due?
All class fees must be paid in full at the time of registration; Cash, Check, Money Order, MasterCard, Visa, Discover or debit card accepted.
How is the Community Education Program funded?
The Boise Schools Community Education program is funded primarily from revenue generated from class fees (tuition). The budget for Community Education covers catalog publishing costs (fall, winter, spring), postage, and administrative staff/overhead for running the program. We welcome patron insight and suggestions to help reduce costs as this important program continues to grow.
Do I receive confirmation of my registration?
If you register online, you will be provided an electronic receipt that you can print. This receipt is not required for class attendance.
- Students who fax or mail registration forms will receive either an e-mail or a printed receipt.
- Please keep a copy of your submitted registration form, and schedule your class(es) on your calendar!
- Use the waiting list option! There is no charge to be on a waiting list; if space becomes available, we will contact you. Many times, an instructor will add another class when there is a large waiting list. It works!
Are scholarships available?
- YES, tuition scholarships may be available for students in hardship situations. Eligibility guidelines are the same as those used for the Boise School District Free or Reduced Meal Program.
- Scholarships will be awarded to eligible students on a first-come, first-served basis and will be dependent upon the amount of scholarship funding available.
- A $21.00 tuition scholarship may be awarded for one class per session, per student; maximum of two per family. Recipients are required to pay the materials fee and additional tuition for their class.
- Scholarship applications are available here or at the Community Education office and must be submitted with the Class Registration Form.
- Students will be informed if they have been awarded a scholarship within two (2) business days of receipt of their application.
Can I donate to the scholarship fund?
- Please consider making a tax-deductible donation to the Boise School District Community Education Scholarship Fund!
- It is through generous contributions that tuition scholarships are made available to other students in need.
- When registering online, select "Add More Courses" and choose "Scholarship Donation".
- Scholarship donations are not refundable. We thank you in advance!
Why would class be cancelled?
- Classes are not scheduled when Boise Public Schools are closed.
- Community Education classes may be cancelled due to inclement weather. Decisions will be made by Boise School District leadership regarding evening activities, including Community Ed classes. Listen to local radio or television stations for information regarding weather cancellations, or call the Community Education office at 208-854-4047.
- If an instructor becomes ill or has an emergency and needs to cancel or postpone a class, the Community Education office will make every effort to alert students via email or telephone. Please provide both e-mail and telephone contact data when you register on-line.
- If possible, classes will be rescheduled.
- Classes that do not meet minimum enrollment requirements may be cancelled.
What is the cancellation policy if I am unable to attend?
- A refund of tuition and material fees will be issued if the Community Education office cancels the class.
- 7 days advance notice is required to drop a class or request a refund (tuition only). If a student requests to drop a class 7 days before the start date of the class or has a documented medical reason, a refund of only the tuition fee may be issued. Students must call the Community Education office to request a refund. Material fees are nonrefundable.
- A $5 transaction fee will be charged for all dropped classes.
- Escrow credit (tuition only) is also available for future classes.
