Trustees of the Boise School Board 

 

Dave Wagers - President 

Dave Wagers was appointed to the Board in January 2015 and was elected President of the Board in September 2020. He has chaired the Strategic Planning, Facilities and Communications committees. Dave attended Cole Elementary, Fairmont Junior High and graduated from Capital High School, later graduating from the University of Idaho with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Finance. He earned a Certified Management Accountant designation in 1991. Dave has been president of Idaho Candy Company since 1998 and has been active in the community for many years serving on numerous community, non-profit and education boards. Dave's mom, Mary Wagers, taught English and Reading at Fairmont Junior High School for 15 years.

Dave and his wife Jill (a Borah High graduate) have four children, three of whom graduated from Boise High School and one that graduated from Frank Church High School.

Maria Greeley - Vice President 

Maria Greeley has been involved with the Boise School District for the past ten years as a parent, substitute teacher, volunteer, PTO officer and elementary school Leadership Team member. Working as a substitute gave Maria the opportunity to see both the successes and the challenges the District faces and will help guide her decisions as part of the Board of Trustees for the next six years.

Maria and her husband Neil have four children currently enrolled in the Boise School District. She attended Barat College in Illinois and the University of Notre Dame in Indiana. Maria also was co-chair for the 2012 Boise School District Levy Campaign.

Nancy Gregory - Trustee

Nancy Gregory was elected to the Board in September 2002 and served as President of the Board from September 2014 to 2020. Her work on the school Board has included policy development, legislative advocacy for public schools, and work on boundary, strategic planning, transportation and facilities committees. She has a Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education from Brigham Young University. The Gregory family has lived in Boise since 1990.

Nancy has volunteered in classrooms, served on numerous building and District committees, mentored parents, served as PTA/PTO president numerous times and founded a parent advocacy group. She strives always to "do what's best for students."

Andy Hawes - Trustee 

Andy Hawes was appointed to the Board in April 2021. Andy is a 5th generation Boisean and a proud alum of Hawthorne Elementary, East Junior High School and Boise High School. He is especially proud that he was nominated for this appointment by his 4th grade teacher, Carolyn Salomonsen-Gaddis, who is now retired after many years of dedicated classroom service with the Boise School District. After attending Boise High, Andy went on to graduate with Honors in Political Science from the University of Denver. He later received his J.D. from the University of Idaho College of Law.

Andy’s association with the Boise School District did not end after graduating from Boise. Over the years, Andy has enjoyed being a longtime supporter of the Boise School District. This service has included participating in a number of fundraising efforts benefiting students and schools, serving as a head coach for the Boise High boys soccer team, organizing support for a major renovation of Boise High School in the 1990s, and dedicating a substantial amount of volunteer time during his daughters’ schooling with the Boise School District.

Professionally, Andy has been practicing law for over 25 years. In 2008, he served as one of the youngest presidents in the history of the Idaho State Bar. Currently, he is the managing member of Andrew E. Hawes, PLLC where his practice focus involves business, real estate and natural resources law. He also has been active in a number of community non-profit groups and is currently Vice Chair of the Board for

Andy is married to Gretchen Christie of Troy, Idaho. They have two children who currently attend Boise High School.







Andy Hawes

Elizabeth Langley - Trustee

Elizabeth Langley was appointed by the Board in November of 2020.  Trustee Langley has significant experience working with the District on many levels, including as a parent. She has volunteered in the classroom, sat on the Boise Public Schools Foundation Board,  served on the Foundation's Finance and Executive Committees, and sat on the District Calendar Committee. 

Additional experience includes a number of non-profit boards, including the CATCH Homeless Initiative to address homelessness in our community. In addition, Trustee Langley has worked as an advocate and volunteer in committees at both the city level and at the state level in addressing the needs of education and homelessness.  As a business person who deals with long term strategic decisions and financials, Trustee Langley's  experience lends itself well to strategic decision-making and supporting the needs of the District in ensuring each and every student is prepared to succeed in college, career and citizenship.

Trustee Langley is a Partner of Echelon Group, Inc. and in her spare time she enjoys working with her children at their family cattle ranch, mountain biking and outdoor activities during all of Idaho's seasons.

Beth Oppenheimer - Trustee

Beth Oppenheimer was elected to the Board in September 2016. She is a longtime advocate for education and wants to ensure that all children and families have access to high quality educational opportunities.

Beth has a Bachelor of Arts degree in Liberal Studies from the University of Montana. She currently serves as the Executive Director for the Idaho Association for the Education of Young Children and serves on various Boards and committees throughout the Treasure Valley which include the YMCA, Treasure Valley Education Partnership and the United Way Education Vision Council. Beth and her husband Jonathan have two daughters currently attending Liberty Elementary and East Junior High. 




Trustee Beth Oppenheimer
Shiva Rajbhandari - Trustee

Shiva Rajbhandari was elected to the Board in September 2022. He attended Highlands Elementary, North Jr. High, Treasure Valley Mathematics and Science Center, and he's currently a senior at Boise High. Shiva has been a community organizer since 9th grade, working on climate change, gun violence, and voting rights issues. As the first student to ever serve on the Board, he is passionate about mental health, supporting teachers, and sustainability in schools. 

Shiva is a member of the Idaho Climate Literacy Education Engagement and Research executive committee at Boise State University. He volunteers for BABE VOTE, Youth Salmon Protectors, Reclaim Idaho, and the Idaho Climate Justice League. Before his election to the Board, he served on the Boise Schools Sustainability Committee and on the Boise High Student Council. Shiva works as the Youth Engagement Coordinator at the Idaho Conservation League. In school, he is involved with the Green Club, Model U.N., and Sources of Strength. He also runs varsity cross country and track. In his spare time, Shiva loves to run, ski, and fish in wild Idaho.

Coby Dennis - Superintendent 

Mr. Clay (Coby) Dennis has been dedicated to the field of public education throughout his professional career. His service to the Boise School District, which began in 1991, has included serving students as a classroom teacher and an assistant principal at both the Junior and Senior High level. He also worked as a junior high principal, area director and deputy superintendent. Mr. Dennis earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Secondary Education and a Master's and Educational Specialist Degree in Educational Administration from the University of Idaho.

Lisa Roberts - Deputy Superintendent 


Lisa Roberts is an award-winning professional educator who is dedicated to the District’s Vision of preparing students for success in college, career and in life. During her nearly 30 years in public education, she has served as an elementary school teacher, elementary principal, administrator and area director.  Mrs. Roberts earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Elementary Education from Boise State University, a Master of Arts Degree in Educational Administration from the University of Idaho and an Educational Specialist Degree from the University of Idaho.
